Over the past 2 weeks Mount Vernon Composite Squadron cadets engaged in practice rounds for this year’s CyberPatriot competition.

Volunteer CAP officers experienced in cyber security and information technology mentor the cadets; however, cadets are on their own during the actual competitive rounds.

The Air Force Association created the National High School Cyber Defense Competition (aka CyberPatriot) to excite, educate, and motivate high school students to become part of the next generation of cyber defenders our nation needs.

Teams are challenged to detect and reduce vulnerabilities and network attacks/intrusions while maintaining critical computer services.

CyberPatriot simulates challenges facing information technology professionals in defending networks against malware, viruses, and hacker attacks.

Stay tuned for updates on our cadets participating in this year’s competition!
